Diwali is the celebration of lights. This celebration originates from India and cherishes important figures in history that served towards creating a more democratic justice system for many communities in India. The idea of good prospering over evil is a moral that many people all around the world celebrate. Diwali takes place on Oct. 27 every year, and is a day filled with prayers, food, music, dance, and the lighting of candles in the darkness.
On Monday Oct. 28, Johnston Heights’ very first bhangra team performed in the hallway. We’re celebrating the festival of Diwali by dressing up in traditional wear, eating samosas, dancing, and playing loud music.
